The first thing we saw this morning was an exclusive gameplay demo for the game. They showed off an assassination taking place at the battle of bunker hill 1775. The visuals are stunning.
It started off with the battle about to begin and a Braveheart type speech was going on to pump up the colonial soldiers. Connor, the protagonist, then begins to make his way from cover to cover to avoid the British soldiers in the distance as the battle starts. As Connor makes his way around the side of the battle to flank he climbs up some trees and finds himself on top of 7 British soldiers. Ubisoft then showed off a new weapon called the Rope Dart which you throw at the soldier’s neck and then hang him from the tree limb. Connor kills another soldier and uses him as a human shield while the other 5 line up and fire. When they go to reload, Connor rushes in and takes them down one by one. The executions looked awesome. Ubisoft made mention that the hidden blade is still used. Connor then makes his way up the mountain and flanks the main group of red coats where the target is. Ubisoft then showed off one of the new ways to hide, which involved crouching and sneaking through bushes.
To end the video, they had Connor rush two guards and then take out the target. Overall, I am freaking stoked to get my hands on this. I cannot wait until E3 because I am assuming more videos and information will be at Ubisoft’s press conference. I now officially have the game preordered and am counting the days.

We got a first look at the new Assassin’s Creed with game play at Pax East today. Aaaaaaand….it looks amazing!
To start, the whole American Revolution theme is badass. The clip we saw today was at Bunker Hill and had armies of men in battle. The game play allows you to chose jumping over shit or sliding under. It’s an extremely interactive world that is more realistic in movement and play. When going through the woods you can climb the trees and jump from branch to branch in a very “organic” way, as the game developers put it. Instead of rock climbing in a straight line upwards, you do it as if it were real life, and search for a good ledge to place your hand by zigzagging all over the place.
All three of us ended up preordering this game and are extremely excited to play it. It seems like one of those games that once you get it home, you play right through to the end and don’t stop until its finished. Enough said.
Randy’s Account:
As soon as you step into the viewing room of the trailer it makes you feel like you are sitting in a fort being debriefed on the task at hand. The start of the trailer put you on the battle field with one task.. To take out the British officer within his encampment.
The preview displayed how the AI now uses military tactics in battle. It seems holding rank and maintaining shooting lines is a new feature in the AC franchise. They also showed the use of coverage in bushes as a concealment method in the forests to get closer to your targets. Then, they featured new weapons, which includes but are not limited to a tomahawk, dual pistols, hidden blade, rope dart, and bow. The combat in the game was also a bit different and allowed you to flow between targets without skipping a beat and missing a blow, which created a great sequenced fight scene that leaves you wanting more blood.
My final take on the preview of the game is this. The game takes place during the revolutionary war, which has not been done before and by far is my favorite era. The game play is smooth and the scenes are stunning. I for one will be playing this nonstop.
Greg’s P.S. Randy’s last sentence: “I for one will be playing this nonstop.” well at least until he beats it.
