Pax East 2012: Deadlight

This game caught my eye from a distance. It comes from a development house out of Madrid Spain. It has the same feel of Limbo which is a downloadable Xbox game that we began to play after the first PAX East and loved it. It is a puzzle/adventure game that takes place in the 80′s. You are being chased by what seems to be zombies and you need to use the environment to help you gain access to further the game play. In one scene you need to escape from some zombies chasing you on top of scaffolding. You find a giant crate and push it off the edge of the scaffolding which then crashes through the floor boards below causing the zombies to get crushed and fall into the hole. You then descend into the hole left by the crate and proceed to the next puzzle scene. This game is set to release in the summer of 2012 on Xbox live and I would advise to keep an eye out for it. If you like puzzle adventure games and limbo, this is right up your alley.

Greg’s Take:

Deadlight is going to be one hell of a game.  It is almost like what would have happened if Shadow Complex and Limbo had a baby.  It is very much puzzle based. There are things happening in the background and foreground of the 2D plane which is very reminiscent of Shadow Complex.  The limbo part comes in with the visuals.  It uses darkness similarly and you rely on death sometimes to figure out how to get past a puzzle.  They would not tell us a price point or when to expect the game past saying it will be out in the Summer of Arcade this year.  I would fully expect this to release at 1800 Microsoft Points or $15.  Anything more would be too expensive.  Hopefully we can get our hands on a review copy.
